How Solar Pool Water Heaters Work
The Wishing Well Water Heater uses the power of the sun to warm the
water from your pool or home as it passes through the many feet of
plastic pipe that wraps around the Wishing Well. Not only does the
sunlight directly warm the pipe, but the polycarbonate that covers the
unit traps the heat and warms the pipe chambers...much like your car
heats up with all the windows closed...and heats up the water
circulating through it.

This attractive unit can be set up mostly
anywhere in the yard where the ground is level and provide you with
money-saving, pollution free hot water that will last for years. It's
easy to set up and operate and does not require additional water pumps.
There are several sizes to meet the needs of your application and your
location. This unit is not just limited to heating pools, but can be
used to heat the water in your home as well.

Solar Pool Water Heater Sizes & Applications
There are 7
basic sizes of Solar Water Heaters, starting from 10 gallon and going up
to 40 gallon. At this time, our Solar Water Heaters have not been BTU
rated. Placing a BTU rating on a solar unit does little if the sun does
not shine, or if it's positioned incorrectly. We, at Dagus, guarantee
all Wishing Well Solar Water Heaters will produce heated water in
favorable conditions. Amounts of heated water will vary depending on
exterior air temperature, amount of sunshine, geological location, time
of the year and Solar Water Heater Size. Bigger is better when it
comes to solar power. Above is a photo of all seven sizes manufactured
and distributed by DAGUS, Inc.
All Seven sizes of
Wishing Well Solar Water Heaters can be used for home domestic use, but
only the largest Solar Water Heaters are recommended for swimming pools,
unless the pools are small. When a Solar Water Heater is used for
heating water in a swimming pool, there are a few important things to
know and remember. First, the existing outdoor air temperature has a lot
to do with water temperature, no matter what type pool heater is used.
The hotter the air temperature, the faster the water will heat because
of minimal heat loss to the air. Wind also has an effect, especially
when the air temperature is cooler than the pool water. A solar cover
must be placed over the pool to help minimize heat loss, especially at
night. In some cases, the need for more heated water can be met through
the coupling of more than one Wishing Well Solar Water Heater. There is
no limit of Solar Water Heaters that can be connected together to meet
almost any need of heated water.
|
When connecting this Solar Water Heater to a swimming pool, a
limit valve assembly will be positioned on the return pip coming
from the filter going to the pool. This limit valve, when
adjusted properly, will only add two or three pounds of back
pressure to the filter system. See the flow valve shown right. |
 |
When connecting this
Solar Water Heater to the home or the barn, the water pressure in the
facility will pressurize the Solar Water Heater. Two pipes must exit
from the facility; one to supply cold water to the Solar Water Heater,
and another returning heated water. Connecting the pipe to the
facility's domestic water heater insures hot water day or night, through
good and bad weather.
We also have Solar
Water Heaters that are fitted with electrical water heaters positioned
in the center area of the wishing well and unseen to the passing public.
This application insures hot water in all types of weather.
The Solar Water Heater Construction Process
| We are
proud at Dagus, Inc. to manufacture the product. We use the best
materials possible while keeping costs to a minimum. There are four
basic steps and materials used in the manufacturing of this unique solar
water heater. The first step is the construction of the frame using
heavy gauge steel and welding into a circular form as shown right. |
 |
 |
A thick application of Rustoleum black paint is brush-applied to
all steel areas. The next item to be positioned is the wood
trim. All wood components are connected to the steel frame
through the use of steel screws, hidden from view where
possible. Treated wood is used where needed, and all other wood
is sealed. |
|
The next item applied is the potable black plastic pipe with 160
PSI rating. The steel frame with wood is positioned in a
turntable. As the table turns a uniform coil of plastic pipe is
applied to both the top and bottom sections of the steel frame.
The completed procedure is shown in the picture to the right. |
 |
 |
The last Major component is the covering of all the pipe areas
with the strong, flexible and expensive polycarbonate plastic of
0.118 thickness. This plastic is 30 times stronger than regular
plexy-glass and is sold as next to unbreakable. The photo (left)
shows a Wishing Well Solar Water Heater, as it would appear
finished. With all components. |
